This is a super-private video chat just for two people — no big company watches or saves what you say or show!
When you open the page, it asks to use your camera and microphone so you and your friend can see and hear each other. You get a secret 6-digit number (your ID). Share it only with the person you want to chat with.
Your browsers need a little help at the very beginning to find each other. They quickly talk to a free helper server run by PeerJS (at 0.peerjs.com). This server is just like a phone operator that says “Here’s where your friend is!” and then steps away — it never sees or hears your video, voice, or messages.
After that quick introduction, your video, voice, and chat messages go straight from your device to your friend’s device — directly between your two browsers (called peer-to-peer). No middle server keeps anything.
If your internet routers make it hard to connect directly, it uses another free helper (a relay server at openrelay.metered.ca) to pass the information along. Even then, everything is locked with strong encryption — like a secret code only you two can read. Just remember: only share your 6-digit ID with someone you really trust!
It’s much more private than most video chat apps like Zoom because nothing gets recorded or stored, and almost everything stays just between you and your friend.
Audio
Audio button controls your microphone.
When the icon shows a normal microphone, your friend can hear you.
Tap the button to mute — the icon will get a slash through it, and your friend won't hear you anymore.
Tap again to turn the microphone back on.
Use this when you need quiet or don't want background noise to go through.
Video
Video button controls your camera.
When the icon shows a normal camera, your friend can see you.
Tap the button to turn the camera off — the icon will get a slash, and your friend will see a friendly placeholder picture instead.
Tap again to turn the camera back on.
Turning it off saves battery and gives you more privacy when you need it.
Chat
Chat button opens the chat panel on the side.
You can type messages and hit Send (or press Enter on your keyboard).
Tap the paperclip icon to send pictures, videos, audio clips, or files like PDFs.
Your messages appear in green bubbles on the right. Your friend's messages are in gray bubbles on the left.
If you get a new message while the chat is closed, a small red notification appears on the button so you know.
Map
Map button shows where you and your friend are during the video chat.
Your spot appears as a green arrow that points the way you’re facing, and your friend’s spot shows as a gold circle.
A bright yellow line will then show how far apart you are from your friend and how long it would take to meet them.
Location sharing only happens while the call is on and the map is open — nothing gets saved after you hang up or close it.
The first time you tap the Map button, your browser will ask permission to use your location — just say yes.
This makes it easy to find each other or see how close you are, and stays just as private as your video and chat messages.
Contacts
Contacts button opens your saved contacts list.
Tap "Add Contact" to save a person's name, phone number, or email.
Once saved, you can quickly send them an invite link by text (SMS) or email with one tap.
Contacts are saved only in your browser — nobody else can see them. When you clear your internet history they will be deleted.
Media
Media button opens a fun video library.
You will see lots of Maizen Minecraft videos.
Click any video picture to watch it big on the screen. It's like having your own Maizen TV right inside the chat.
Use it when you want to relax, laugh, or watch something together with your friend during the call.
